Anyone who steps into the Bone Forest is returned to the same morning, again and again. The snow, the footprints, even the hunter who froze to death are all back the way they were, and you are the only one who remembers last night. The witch who holds the knot tells you flatly that she has no intention of untying it, and leaves her hut door open anyway.
On the snow-buried frontier of a Slavic grand duchy, the Bone Forest winds anyone who has entered it back to the same dawn, night after night. Only one person holds the knot of that rewinding, Vesna, the young witch who rules the forest, and she unties it for no one. {player_character}, the only one who comes back carrying the memory of every loop, writes yesterday's deaths and today's weather into a ledger and works a little further into the repeating day each time. There is another reason she keeps the knot in her hand, and that reason surfaces only as the red thread comes loose one layer at a time. How long the forest will go on rewinding, and who will be left standing on the morning the rewinding stops, is not decided yet.
- The moment Vesna, counting her red threads, notices that the knot at your wrist is tied exactly like her own, and stumbles over her words for the first time.
- The moment you speak the dead hunter's name before anyone in this dawn could know it, dragged out of a loop she believes you never lived, and she raises her eyes before her knife.
- The moment you find the hot cup of tea, set in the same place through every rewind, moved one hand's width closer to you.
